Georgia-based Rhett concept evolves into Southern coastal cuisine

Created and operated by an independent restaurant team, Makeready, Savannah’s signature River Street restaurant, Rhett, announces reimagined fare made up of local ingredients inspired by the spirit and cuisine of the American coastal south.

Perched on top of the Savannah in the Plant Riverside area, Rhett’s surroundings in Savannah’s cargo port have served as the inspiration and inspiration behind the refreshing menu that celebrates the gift of the Lowcountry while honoring Southern classics. Committed to bringing River Street back to its original roots of authentic interaction, commerce and conversation, Rhett’s menu provides guests with convenience and access to what we love about coastal American cuisine.

“From day one, Rhett has been a favorite with locals and guests thanks to its great location and classic menu offerings,” says Arthur Sertorio, Corporate Services Manager, Food and Beverage at Makeready. “Our evolution reflects that our team truly embraces the local culture and desires to highlight the tastes and essence of Low Country. We stick to our Southern favourites, yet have incorporated smart and thoughtful menu alternatives and additions to give our patrons the coastal freshness and quality they crave.”

Expertly executed by Executive Chef Javier Hernandez, the new menu retains favorites like the Cheddar Drop Biscuits, Mushroom Risotto and Rite Burger that diners have known and loved over the years. For dinner, guests can expect high-quality sustainable seafood from the region’s best purveyors and fishmongers. The signature menu includes seafood towers, trout stuffed with mushrooms, leeks, lemon sauce, shrimp and grits with andouille and smoked tomato and green onion broth. Small plates, perfect for sharing with new and old friends, include mussels, fries, Smoked Fish Dip, and She Crab Soup.

The newly launched raw bar features Tuna Crudo, daily selections from nearby May River Oyster, and a selection of salt-watering wines, cocktails and beers, all in harmony with the seafood-focused menu. Plus, Rhett’s signature brunch served seven days a week now includes an all-new legendary Bloody Mary’s soon-to-be menu with six different types to choose from.

The Rhett is open Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch and Monday through Wednesday, 5-9 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday, 5-10 p.m. for dinner.
