Several members of the local Riverbank Police Services took a moment for another coffee with this Cop event last week to connect with the community. The event was held in a new place and time, but the good atmosphere and warm welcome continued.
“It was a fantastic event,” said RPS President Ed Rednor. “Everyone seemed so excited to see us there as we were given a warm welcome. Conversations ranged from the weather, to crime, to just casual conversations. This is what the event is all about, to get to know our residents better and for our residents to know their law enforcement officials better.”
With the warm reception they received last month and the positive reaction from the community, RPS hosted yet another coffee session, this one at Palo Sant Café at 9am on June 8. During the hour in the cafe there were a few guests who knew the officers would be there and some of them were pleasantly surprised.
“I thought Café Palo Santo was a great location for a second coffee with a cup event,” said Sergeant Howard. “I think the change in time allowed us to meet and speak with a variety of clients who weren’t in a hurry to get to work but had time to stop and ask questions.”
The family entered the café excited to see the officers. Young people shook hands and thanked them for their general service to society.
“I think the most important thing is to always interact with all members of the community from business people to customers,” Howard said. “I always find it refreshing when young people in our community come to one of our members and thank them for their service and show a real interest in the public safety field.”
Palo Santo Café opened this year and serves a variety of coffees, teas, homemade baked goods, custom gelato, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
“The food and staff were great at Palo Santo Café,” added Ridenour. “If you aren’t, I encourage you to try it. I had chilaquiles, absolutely delicious.”
The president indicated that they would try to serve coffee with the Cop event once a month. Check the RPS Facebook page for the next date, location, and time.
