PARIS, June 19 (Vietnam News/ANN): A culinary festival as part of Ici Vietnam 2022, an event to introduce Vietnamese culture to the French people, was held at Place Monge in the 5th arrondissement of Paris on June 18.
The culinary festival, the second of its kind to be held in Ici Vietnam so far, aims to promote the identities of Vietnamese cuisine, from street food to dishes served in restaurants.
It saw the participation of 26 associations, companies and restaurants of Vietnamese in France such as Foyer Vietnam, Ba Noi, Ngoc Xuyen, Thanh Binh Jeune, Tra Art and France Plumfoot.
They served many nationally typical foods and drinks, such as “Bon Bo” (beef stew), “Bon Tron” (mixed noodles), “Nim Kwon” (fresh spring rolls), and “Nim ran” (Spring rolls). fried), vietnamese sandwich, sugar cane juice, tea and coffee.
The locals were also drawn to this festival by singing and dancing performances by artists of Vietnamese origin, along with folk games and presentation of some Franco-Vietnamese books.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Tuan Thang praised the Ici Vietnam Festival, which demonstrated the dynamism of the Vietnamese people in France and created impetus for more activities in 2023, when the two countries celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the tenth. Florence Berthot, Mayor of the Fifth District, said that the local administration itself has always supported the cultural activities of the Vietnamese community, stressing that Vietnam has many special cultural identities, including cuisine, which many French people wish to learn and explore.
Deputy Mayor Benjamin Izari expressed his happiness with the large number of visitors to the event despite the hot weather which proved the appeal of Vietnamese food.
The Ici Vietnam Festival was an idea for a group of young French-Vietnamese who want to organize festive events in different fields, from cinematography and arts to cuisine, to introduce Vietnamese culture to the French.
