Fill half of your plate with vegetables, says The Nutrition Twins. “They will crowd out the heavy items on your plate and fill you up with fiber and very few calories.”

The Nutrition Twins suggests that when possible, throw veggies into any meal you prepare as they will have the same effect as filling your plate with vegetables.

For example, if you are making chicken and fried rice, simply add the peas, broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms. If you’re making shrimp pasta, simply mix in the broccoli and zucchini.

“You don’t even have to take the time to chop veggies, you can use frozen veggies, which are just as healthy as fresh veggies because they’re packed and frozen,” says The Nutrition Twins.

The nutrients remain intact in this form, so none are lost during shipment or placement in stores. So, if vegetables are exposed to light or heat or take too long to reach store shelves, the nutrients will still be present in those frozen vegetables.

Were you ever asked to “finish what’s on your plate” as a kid? Chances are you’re dealing with a “clean plate” mentality, which means that you eat whatever is on your plate, despite feeling full. However, you don’t need to do this, and leaving some leftovers on your plate can actually help with weight loss.

“If you’re like most people who finish everything on their plate, just leave your last 3 bites behind,” says The Nutrition Twins. “This can save over 100 calories at each meal, and if you’re a person who eats 3 meals and a snack every day, this can equate to losing approximately 4 pounds of weight over a month.”

“When we drink calories, our brain doesn’t get a signal that we’ve got fuel, and we don’t compensate for those calories the way we do after eating, and instead we eat as much later,” says The Nutrition Twins.

Soluble fiber includes fruits like apples, strawberries, and other citrus fruits, as well as oats, oat bran, beans, rice bran, peas, and potatoes.

Just because you’re trying to lose weight, it doesn’t mean you need to ditch everything you love!

“People who always deny themselves end up throwing in the towel because their plan is unsustainable,” says The Nutrition Twins. “They often go off a lot after feeling like they can’t eat any of the foods they love and instead end up overeating or overeating. By including small portions of your favorite foods once in a while, you’re taking out the deprivation from equation, so it makes it very easy to follow a healthy eating plan.”

It is conceivable that this change alone could lead to a loss of 5 pounds in a month.”

Nutrition Twins suggests that instead of pouring oil directly into the pan when cooking, spray pots and pans with oil instead. Also, spray bread with oil instead of dipping, and sprinkle salads with sauces instead of pouring them.
