Favorite Chef Guy Fieri is opening a new Italian restaurant in River Oaks

Two veterans of the Houston dining scene have teamed up to open a new Italian restaurant that will open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef Roberto Crescini and Francesco “Paco” Calza will open In front of an Italian restaurant On the 6th of July.

It is located near the Central Market at 2900 Weslayan St. Davanti serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu built around fresh Crescini pasta that diners can combine with different sauces and proteins. Other menu items will include pizza and Italian desserts such as tiramisu. Italian wines and handcrafted beers from both Europe and America will solidify the beverage program.

“We will work towards having a warm, courteous and efficient service,” Calza said in a statement. “While at the same time offering the best beer and wine pairings for Roberto’s kitchen”

The closure earlier this year of the Fresco Café Italiano, the former restaurant of Chef Crescini, provided the opportunity for the two men to work together. In an edition, the duo made it clear that they share a passion for high-quality European ingredients. Calza adds that Chef Krishini makes the best pasta he’s ever eaten.

Krishini made his local debut as the inaugural chef for Belaire favorite Enoteca Rossa. At Fresco Café Italiano, he’s earned loyal fans of fresh pasta. The chef appeared alongside Food Network star Guy Fieri on the 2021 episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Calza has a similarly brilliant resume. After serving as General Manager of Annie’s Café for several years, he joined Chef Luis Roger to open the fine Spanish cuisine restaurant BCN in 2014. As General Manager of BCN, he played a key role in helping BCN establish its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Houston with the best flight service to match. its food quality.
