We are Black Rock Resort in Ucluelet, on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park. Amidst the old growth cedars and rugged coastline of Vancouver Island in the traditional region of the Nuu-chah -nulth people, our natural surroundings provide an incredible bounty of seasonal ingredients.

Chief Food Geek is a natural leader who exudes positivity and a passion for sharing his knowledge of unique ingredients and techniques and inspiring his fellow chefs to be the best.

The Chief Food Geek is an active collaborator with the Kitchen Leadership team in creating menus and recipes that will help us build a world-class food and beverage program for Black Rock Resort.

As you might expect, you will also be expected to establish relationships with local farms, fishermen and other suppliers of unique and exceptional ingredients.

Knowledge of the West Coast area and/or local experience
Passion for inspiration, coaching and team development
3+ years culinary leadership experience (preference for resort/hotel experience)
Flexibility and adaptability
Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Proven teamwork skills
Knowledge of sourcing and procurement
Successful completion of an approved culinary program or equivalent
Red Seal Certificate or equivalent
A first aid certificate is an asset
Excellent communication skills in written and verbal English
Ability to work in a high-speed, physically demanding environment
Capable of lifting/moving up to 40 lbs.
