Boisson, a non-alcoholic beverage store, offers “high-end chips”

Who said you need alcohol to enjoy? Or enjoy a cocktail? Poisson (148 Bedford Street) challenges this idea.

Boisson is a retail store started during the pandemic by two friends, Nick Budkins and Barry Arnold, who wanted to offer others non-alcoholic options “in a welcoming, judgment-free zone that intrigued me.” The site and its website (which ships nationwide) are stocked with a variety of products such as spirits, vermouth, myrrh or non-alcoholic beer and wine. So you can make mojitos, margaritas, and all the favorite things in between – without the waste.

Boisson has five locations in New York City, all of which opened in 2021. They have plans in 2022 to open stores outside of New York City. The rapidly expanding and growing brand shows that there is a desire among people for more non-alcoholic options.

Boisson’s online marketplace accounts for 50% of their business. From “dry January” to “sober October,” people are looking for alternatives. According to NielsenIQ, sales of non-alcoholic beverages increased in 2021. In the past 12 months (in 2021), low-alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages sold $3.1 billion.

Born in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, co-founders Bodkins and Arnold, like many others, have been reconsidering their drinking habits and well-being leading them to try non-alcoholic options. Boisson’s mission, Bodkin shared with it Green Pointersis “the constancy of offering sophisticated sips to those who abstain from alcohol or only in moderation, but still look forward to enjoying the social and satisfying experience of drinking craft cocktails, wine, beer, and other sparkling elixirs.”

Sophisticated sips is a term that Boisson coined and tags all of their Instagram posts. They want to remind people that enjoying the ritual of drinking without alcohol, whether in a group or on your own, is still an act of evolution. Drinking alcohol doesn’t have to be the equivalent of being an adult. Budkins mentions how Poisson offers more than the water and sugary drinks associated with childhood. They serve “truly adult drinks”.

“In a society where so much is focused on drinking alcohol, it can take a moment of re-education to reconsider what the act of drinking for adults means,” Budkins said.

While there are many “truly adult drinks” to choose from at Boisson, non-alcoholic wines are Boisson’s most popular. They come from all over the world – California, South Africa, Germany and New Zealand. For the Williamsburg site, a ready-to-drink product called Phony Negroni is also very popular. The ready-to-drink product is made in Brooklyn at the St.

Boisson means drink in French and it is what one would get or learn to make in their traditional shops. They even have free tastings, and who doesn’t love the free stuff?

Boisson makes non-alcoholic drinks just as fun and teaches others how to also enjoy the recipes. And for folks who want to try cannabis-infused and infused spirits, Boisson has them, too. cheers!
