A local coffee shop asks Def Leppard to do it, and gets a response

Music fans across the country will enjoy watching Def Leppard perform one of her biggest hits, “Pour Some Sugar on Me” every night as a highlight of the “Stadium Tour.” But imagine how cool it would be to catch them at something a little smaller, say a local coffee shop? Well, that’s something Biggby Coffee in Oshtemo, Michigan imagined, and they reached out to the band in hopes of arranging a special appearance.

Like the Meatball of WKFR 103.3 FM in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Biggby Coffee managers saw a great marketing engagement and decided to shoot them, asking if the band could perform “Pour Some Sugar on Me” to help promote their Brown Sugar latte. As you might expect, the group is a bit busy at the moment on tour, but the cafe got a refund.

The text of an official letter from the Talent Group representing the band is as follows:

Thank you for your inquiry.
However, we regret to inform you that Def Leppard will not be able to perform “Pour Some Sugar On Me” at your coffee shop to promote a brown sugar latte.
The band is currently on their home tour.
While your offer of “unlimited Bragels and lattes” is generous, the appearance fee starts at $500,000.
If this meets your budget, we may be able to arrange an appearance in the future. We require 12 months’ notice.
We hope you’ll bring her to one of their concerts this summer.
All the best with your promotion.

As Biggby Coffee noted in their Facebook post, “Okay, we tried.” But as Metbull pointed out, the goal of acquiring Def Leppard based on letter requirements may not be entirely out of reach if the local coffee crew feels tolerant of the business.

Oshtempo Town has a population of about 21,000, but it is also part of the much larger Kalamazoo region which has a population of approximately 335,000 people. The Def Leppard Jar suggestion could help those landing near Biggby Coffee set up their way if they sought to keep it up.

In the meantime, your best bet in catching up with Def Leppard is to see them on the “stadium tour” with Motley Crue, Poison, Joan Jett and Classless Act. You can get your tickets here.
