Daniel del Prado’s waterside restaurant will open soon in Wayzata

Daniel del Prado’s newest restaurant, Makanda, It is scheduled to open on July 9 on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Located at 294 Grove Lane E. in the former Wayzata Brew Works, it is the city’s second restaurant.

There will be 100 seats indoor and another 120 outside on a four-season patio that will open to the water in the warm months and be covered and comfortable in cold weather.

In the kitchen will be Chef Steve McMullen, who has worked with Del Prado at Josefina, his other restaurant in Wayzata, and at Bar La Grassa in Minneapolis. There will also be a vinyl record lounge where Del Prado’s partner in the project, Aaron Switz, will fill the room with music.

“The idea is that it’s not concentrated in one kitchen,” del Prado said of Macanda. It’s magic in Argentina [where del Prado grew up]Colombia – in Latin America it is the most important. ”

In addition to Josefina, del Prado also owns Minneapolis restaurants Martina, Colita, Sanjusan, Rosalia, and Cardamom as well as Cafe Ceres with pastry chef Sean McKenzie.

Centro is coming to Highland Park

CenterAnd the Margarita and taco from owner Jami Olson and chef Jose Alarcon is opening its next location at the former Menchie’s/Great Clips on Cleveland Boulevard in the St. Paul Highland Park neighborhood. but that is not all. The 6,000-square-foot space means there’s plenty of room for more, and a not-yet-named burger concept will carry over.

Like the original location (1414 NE. Quincy St., Mpls.), the Centro and burger suite will serve as a counter-service. There will also be a full bar, which means the odds of a margarita on tap are good.

The opening date has not been announced. St. Paul’s plans are part of a major expansion of the Northeast Taco Shop. The Eat Street location (2412 Nicollet Av. S., Mpls.) with a catering kitchen is also under construction, hoping to open before the end of summer.

Beer shop/cafe at West 7th’s is now open

The people behind the popular craft beer event Beer Dabbler opened dappler warehouse On the site of Stransky’s former liquor store in St. Paul.

The building has fallen into disrepair but has been completely remodeled into a stylish new shop with an impressive selection of local beers, all lined up in coolers, and a selection of quality wines and drinks. On the side, away from the liquor store, there’s a small coffee shop that serves Rusty Dog coffee from Madison, Wisconsin, and they also have Donut Hole donut slots and pie slices from Key’s Cafe available in the morning; Both were sold out before noon.

Sheridan’s room is closing

In a social media post last week, Sheridan Room Northeast Minneapolis announced that its final service will be June 30.

“We have both personal and professional reasons for closing,” the post read, before expressing gratitude and urging fans of the restaurant to come for another meal.

Owners John and Garrett Ullman and Joshua Mandelman opened the Sheridan Room (337 13th Av. NE., Mpls.) in late 2015 in the former Modern Café. It quickly became a neighborhood favorite for hearty brunch and legendary giant fried chicken sandwiches.

Restaurant staff recently suffered the loss of twin chef Matthew Kempf, who was an employee there.

BAD Wingz . is closed

BAD Wingz, The chicken and vegan wing outpost of Britney and Gerard Class will close at the Graze Provisions + Libations food court on June 30. The couple said they are optimistic about their future, as things are bustling in both of them Soul bowl Locations – at Graze (520 N. 4th St., Mpls.) and at Richfield (7122 Chicago Av. S.).
