One fan tweeted, “On the hottest day of summer, why would you force a little boy to show up in a suit and tie? Let him be just a little boy.”
But another royal fan defended the decision, noting that the dress code was “for anyone sitting in the Royal Box… which is why Prince William wore a jacket and tie as well.”
And the fan involved explained, “I hear what you’re saying, but for a young royal? Surely if he had been elegantly dressed without a tie that would have been perfectly understandable and acceptable. Just an idea.” (sic).
However, another fan praised the young man for following the uncomfortable procedures.
“George did such a good job of having to wear a tie and a dress code! I bet he would have preferred shorts and a T-shirt. Well done!” he wrote on their tweet.
