FARGO – Slim Chickens are ready to take their place in Fargo’s fast food order.

The casual fast food restaurant is open at 4477 30th Ave. S. is officially on Monday, July 18.

This is the third healthy North Dakota chicken opened by the Minot-based restaurant favorite.

“We’re getting pretty close,” Preferred spokeswoman Wendy Larson said Wednesday, June 13.

Larson said dozens of employees were in training on Wednesday, among about 100 employees the restaurant plans to hire.

“We are where we want to be,” she said, thanks to an early start in a recruitment marketing campaign. However, the restaurant is still taking orders, she said.

The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting party for the restaurant at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Slim Chickens is a casual restaurant chain that specializes in serving chicken, wings, sandwiches, salads, wraps, chicken, waffles and homemade dipping sauces.

Restaurant opening hours are 10:30 am. It’s 10 p.m. every day, Larson said.

Preferred had planned to open last fall, but as with other businesses it has tried to open during the pandemic, failed supply chains have delayed the arrival of HVAC components, coolers and other needed restaurant equipment.

Preferred also owns and operates 14 Taco John restaurants in North Dakota, Montana, Missouri, and Idaho.

The restaurant group bought the rights to open six Slim Chickens in North Dakota and six in Montana. Helena’s location is the only Montana store for the group to date.

Preferred opened its first Slim Chicken in North Dakota in Minot, and followed up with a second in Williston a month ago. Larson said the group is looking at other locations across the state.

Slim Chickens joins a slew of Fargo-Moorhead competitions, including Chick-fil-A, Brew Bird, Buffalo Wild Wings, the recently opened Boss’ Pizza and Chicken, and a number of other fast food restaurants and casual eateries serving chicken sandwiches. and tenders or wings.

Larson encourages diners to turn away, download the Slim Chickens app and mark Fargo as their home location. She said the app will give them access to new inaugural promotions and opportunities to win prizes, including free chicken for a year.

Slim Chickens founders Greg Smart and Tom Gorden opened their first outlet in 2003 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Slim Chickens has over 150 locations in the US, UK and Kuwait. The company’s website says there are more than 800 restaurants in Slim Chickens in development.
